Home survey
It is recommended that If you’re interested in any of the following technologies you undertake a Go Renewable home survey to progress with your installation requirements through Go Renewable.
- Air Source Heat Pump
- Ground Source Heat Pump
- Biomass
- Solar Panels
- Battery
You need the survey results to submit a job in the marketplace and get quotes from installers for the renewable technologies you're interested in. This will save you time, as you won't need to get different installers to visit to quote each time.
You can then compare quotes and arrange for your chosen installer to carry out the work.
The home survey starts from £300 for a standard assessment. This includes:
- In-depth information on your home's suitability for renewable technologies.
- Recommendations for where the technology could sit within your home.
- An updated energy performance certificate (EPC) if required.
- Heat loss calculations for every room in your home.
- Suggestions to improve your home’s energy efficiency.
The price may increase depending on the size of your house. If you have a large home (over four bedrooms) we can still carry out a survey. However, the cost may be higher.
The table below shows the pricing information.
Number of rooms | Home survey base price | |
---|---|---|
12 | £300 | Standard assessment fee |
15 | £375 | Tier 1 |
18 | £450 | Tier 2 |
22 | £550 | Tier 3 |
22+ | request a quote | Complex home |
If you’re currently undergoing renovation or extensive construction work at home, we won’t be able to carry out a full home survey. This is because your home will be open to the elements, so we won’t be able to complete a heat loss calculation.

Your quotes and installation
When posting a job to the marketplace you can increase your chances of getting quotes by choosing multiple installers to quote against your requirements.
If you still need help, please contact the helpdesk team.
Please email gorenewable@mcscertified.com with your query details and someone will be in touch.
MCS is a mark of quality. Using an MCS certified installer will ensure your installer meets recognised industry standards when completing your installation.
MCS certified installers have undergone a rigorous vetting process to demonstrate that they meet these standards. They’re also members of a consumer code which means you’ll get strengthened customer protection.
If your technology is eligible for a government incentive, you’ll need to be able to provide MCS certification to claim this.
